COMPENSATION AWARDED (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night., ( Giving judgment in the compensa- , ■ tinn claim by Charles Daniel Murphy, 1 ■ of Wellington, against A. 11. Turnbull i ; and Company in the Arbitration j i Court, His Honor said the court had , no doubt that the plaintiff could not i ■ be cured without an operation, which 1 . would be simple and .almost certainly < successful. Tt could not. be said/ however, that the plaintiff was union- * . sonable in refusing to undergo the 1 , operation after what, his own medical ! p adviser had told him. The plaintiff - was entitled to compensation for the > time of incapacity to date and for a ) further period of six weeks. ( are sons of the late Captain Thomas Scott, formerly in the service of the Northern Steam Ship ‘Company. Both ‘ men had spent tlie greater part of 4 their lives at sea.
