BYRD'S EXPEDITION
BEAR CROSSES THE LINE (Special to Press Association) (By Radio from the Byrd Expedition) AT SEA, Nov. 27. On Sunday afternoon tho veteran icebreaker, the Bear of Oakland, pushed her way into tho waters of tho Southern Hemisphere for the first time for half a century. The traditional Neptune ceremony was held. The ship is now headed for Papeete, Tahiti, where she is to coal. She is expected to arrive there about December 13, and will then proceed to Wellington, where it is hoped that she will arrive in time to usher in 1934.
