DISMISSAL OF STAFF
RADIO STATION IZR FAR EWELL MESSAGES Members of the staff of the Government B class radio station IZR, Auckland, who have received notice of dismissal from the Post and Telegraph Department, will be allowed to give a suitable farewell message to listeners oil the occasion of their last appearance before the microphone. An official of the department stated on Sunday that through a misunderstanding those who had received notice of dismissal had been informed that no farewells should ibo broadcast. However, the position had now been made clear, and station officials would be notified accordingly. It lias been pointed out that the notice of dismissal, which takes effect after December 3, is only from the Post and Telegraph Department;, which relinquishes control of the station on that date. The notice makes no reference to the likely 'policy of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, which is to take over the station on December 4. In relinquishing its connection with the station, and Post and Telegraph Department, it has been stated, would obviously, as a matter of course, have to give notice of dismissal to its employees, since it would be unable to absorb them into other Ibranclios of the service.
“The Broadcasting Board bus made no decision about the engagement or otherwise of the present members of the IZR staff,” said tho chairman of the board, Mr G. 11. Hutchinson. “As a matter of fact, they have never yet been told by the Broadcasting Board that they would not bo required. The whole question of the policy and management of IZB will be decided by tho board early this week,”
