CALL ON PRESIDENT
MR. ALFRED SMITH WASHINGTON, Nov. 15. For the first time since the election of his rival to the Presidency, Mr. Alfred Smith called at White House to-day. Mr. Smith was the Democrat nominee in 1920, hut Mr. Roosevelt won it against liim last. year. Air. Smith Avas very affable with the reporters when lie departed: “Our conversation embraced two subjects, lie said. “First we talked about the size of our respective families; secondly, our rivalry for grandchildren.' “What about politics?” he was asked. “Nobody said a word about politic*, except one of the children. He asked for another piece ot cake.’
