FORTNIGHTLY MEETING Manchester Unity Oddfellows, Loyal Gisborne Lodge, 6087, ipet last night. In the absence of the N.G., Bro. C. r. Stubbs, Bro. F. C. EUis, 1.P.N.G., presided. Thoro tviis a iittciiddiico. A special welcome was extended to the newly married couple, ,Bro. V O. Rothwall and his wife. Both are past grands, and the honors of the order were given. Among the correspondence was a letter from the Cook Hospital Board regretting the inability of tho board to make arr.y variation in the terms of the agreement* hut expressing willingness to renew Hie agreement for n further term at the same rate, with the attachment of several clauses desired by the Friendly Society ,Council. —The lodge agreed to the renewal of the agveeniqpt with the proposed additional clauses, apd instructed the lodge trustees to act accordingly. The regulations regarding members on the sick list were discussed. The secretary drew attention to a breach committed by a .member, and stated that tlie member was present to explain his position. After the explanation was made, it was agreed that-this be accepted. and also that the action of the secretary be endorsed for calling attention to the matter. It was also agreed to furnish all members on sick pay witli a letter setting out their obligations. The special business of the evening was the election of officers, which resulted as follows: Bro. A. J. Kearns, noble grand; Bro. A. G. Hicks, vice, grand; Bro. F. L. Ikakeiyteleetiyo seere-
tary; Bro. C. F. Stubbs, I.P.N.G. it was agreed that minor officers would be appointed by the noble grand and vicegrand at the installation next lodge night. . , A very pleasing presentation was .made to Bro. F. O. Ellis, the retiring 1.P.N.G., of a handsome past officer’s collar bearing the insignia of the North Canterbury district, Bro. Ellis having been a member of the. City of Christchurch Lodge. In making the presentation, the group officer, Bro. F. T. Robinson, P.G., spoke of the splendid zeal displayed during Bro. Ellis’ term of office, and felt sure that this would continue. Two candidates were nominated for membership. Tt was 'decided to refer the matter of distressed members to a sub-committee. A small presentation to tlie organist brought a most enjoyable meeting to a close, refreshments being partaken of later.
