OBITUARY

DR. W. r. BROWNE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The death occurred to-day of Dr* W. F. Brown, 59, who had been in practice in Christchurch for 27 _ years. Dr. Browne was bom in Dunedin and took his medical degrees at the University of Otago. He served in the war as a captain in the New Zealand Medical Corps. MR. W. M. HAMILTON (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Air. William Milne Hamilton, a part-, ner in the Christchurch legal firm of Messrs Raymond, Stringer/ Hamilton, and Donnelly, died to-day. Air. Hamilton was for many years: in practice in Waimate, and came Ad Christchurch about 14 years ago. Although he did not appear much in: court work, he had a considerable reputation as a law scholar. MR. F. W. ,CARET ' . (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. ! Air. Francis William Carey, a, wellknown resident of Wellington, died on Friday at his residence in Kelbum. Ho joined the staff of the New Zealand Loan and Alercantile Agency Company Limited at an early age, and subsequently was appointed manager of the Wellington branch, from which! position he retired a. few years ago. He is survived by a widow and one daughter. DR. JOHN H. B. MASTERMAN (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press As»n.) LONDON, Nov. 26. The death is reported of Dr.. Joint! B. Alasterman, Bishop of Plymouth. The late Dr. Alasterman was born id 1867 and was educated at Cambrige, where he had a distinguished scholastic career. He was ordained in 1896 and worked in various ports of England before* being appointed Bishop of Plymouth in 1922. Ho was the author of a number of books on religious and political questions.
