CULT OF NUDISM

FORMING! DUNEDIN CLUB The cult of nudism lias its advocates in practice and theory in Dunedin. A few enthusiasts have formed a nudist circle to he known as the ‘‘Dunedin Gymnosophy Olu-b.” A committee has been set up and a club founded with the object of acquiring ground suitable for the practice of sunbathing, swimming, physical exercises, etc., and “for the proper conduct of the club.” In a circular issued by the committee, the formation of a club along the “best” English and American lines is stated to have been felt desirable, and the point is stressed that the club is. a genuine and responsible body. The circular has been sent to swimming clubs, whose attention has been drawn to the special desirability of a strong section being formed on the female side. Not, many of the swimmers are in favor of the movement, and the circular has been subjected to considerable ridicule and criticism. Exception has been taken to it by some from the fact that most of the swimming clubs have a strong junior membership.
