TOKOMARU BAY NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) The committee of tho Tokomaru Bay Bowling Club sponsored a successful flag live hundred evening in the pavilion on Tuesday. The popularity of these card evenings may be judged by the number of members who attend the functions, which have beeli quite Ire quent lately. Apart from the prizes which accompanied the winners of the flags, other prizes for lucky persons were also donated, and this was an added interest to the game. Those at the winning flag table were Mesdames Lumsden and Findlay and Alessrs. J. Porter and Chiles, who were rewarded with a 251 b. bag of Hour each. The other persons whom fortune smiled upon were Airs. Walker, Air. J. Jackson and Air. T. Delamere. Among the players were Alesdames Lumsden, Corbett, Walker, T. Conole, Findlay, Ransley, sen., Ale Knight, Sparks, Aloody; Alessrs. J. Corbett, J. Law, Short, Aloody, J. Jackson, J. Conole, Al. Sparks, J. -Maxwell, I). Oates, It. Hanlon, T. Delamere, J. Porter, and A. L. Walker. Miss Nance Brodie, Tokomaru Bay, who arrived in Wellington on Wednesday by the Rangitane, is expected to arrive home at the week-end.—Air. V. S. Tankard, who was recently transferred to Opotiki, is spending a week’s holiday in Tokomaru Bay.—Air. T. V. Whittle, Waitaoa, arrived this week to reside in Tokomaru Bay.—Aliss May Mackay, Tokomaru Bay, and -Miss Jean Wallis and Aliss Runty Parker, Gisborne, are the guests of AB's. R. <L Stevens, Hauturu, for the coming-of-age of Aliss Jean Stevens this week.—Airs. 11. Atkinson, Otorohanga, who has been on an extended holiday in Tokomaru Bay with her daughter,' Airs. F. Nathan, returned home this week. —Air. and Mrs. V. Bruce, Ruakituri, are visiting Mr. !>• Bruce, sen., Tokomaru Bay.—Airs. Coombe, Tokomaru Bay, made a short visit to Gisborne this week and stayed with Airs. Les. Harris, Palmerston road. —Miss Jean Bruce, Gisborne, is spending a holiday in Tokomaru Bay.—Aliss F. Brown, Woodville, who lias been staying with her brother Air. W. Brown, Tokomaru Bay, returned to her home at the week-end.
