ABSENT FROM REGIMENT
ARMY COURT MARTIAL 500-MILE WALK IN UNIFORM (Received November 25, 3.30 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 24. Tlie Scots Guardsman, Albert- Lorrimor, who walked the 500 miles from London to Aberdeen to fetch his uniform and to save the cost of postage, was court-martiallcd at Chelsea to-day on a charge of being absent from his regiment. Lorrimer explained that when lie returned to London after leave in Aberdeen he decided not to rejoin his regiment, but realised that lie had left his uniform behind, and so walked to Aberdeen to fetch it as he possessed only 9s. Asked why he had not requested that tho uniform be posted, Lorrimer said ho thought it would be cheaper to walk, which occupied four weeks, after which he surrendered. The court’s finding will be promulgated.
