Five Dead in Car Race
TWO fatal accidents marred the motor race .over an open circuit of 710 kilometres for the Princess Piedmont Cup at Bari, Italy, on October 9.
The Swiss driver, Walter Grosh, was passing through the village of Giovinazzo when his car ran into a crowd of spectators, killing two outright, and injuring four .others, two of them fatally.
The second accident happened in the village of Mellitto. The Italian driver, D’lppolito, driving with another Italian named Severi in an Alfa-Komeo car, was resuming his course after having withdrawn for engine trouble. With rapidly increasing spool he was about to overtake a car when a horse attached to a cart swerved across the road. The car made three complete turns and then fell into the ditch. D’lppolito was killed instantaneously.
