FUTURE OF 2ZW
NEW SITE NOT DECIDED i When the statements made :it the annual meeting of the 2-ZW Radio Listeners’ Club, that 2ZW was to be dismantled on December 3, and probably installed at Gisborne, were referred to Mr E. (’. Hands, general manger of the Broadcasting Board, at Wellington, he said that that line of action had not even been thought of, much less discussed. Mr Hands pointed out that Gisborne already had a station that was subsidised by the board. As a matter of (fact 2ZW had not yet been taken over by the broadcasting authorities. It would probably be taken over on December 4 (the day it is to be removed I from the building it is now in), j Arrangements have been made to 'provide Wellington with an alternative programme, but it is unlikely that the transmitter ar 2ZW will bo used for the purpose. Mr Hands stated that the rearrangements involved in the taking over of IZR, Auckland, also were nearing completion. “It can be taken that alternative programmes will be provided each evening at Auckland and Wellington, and later on at Christchurch and Dunedin,” he said. “Early morning sessions will also be ’provided.”
