BIZARRE MURDER

s \ SENSATIONAL CHARGES i , DOCTORS INVOLVED l (Received November 24, 3 p.m.) CHICAGO, Nov. 23. Upon the arrest of Earle Wynekoop, 27, and his mother, Dr. Alice Wynekoop, 62, to-day, the death of Rheta, 23, the young man’s wife and a talented violinist, who was found early in the eveniug two days ago with a bullet in her heart, naked, save for a blanket wrapped about her, on her mother-in-law’s operating table, promised to develop into 1 the most bizarre murder this city lias known for many years. Insurance policies, one for £IOOO, on the life of the young woman, with the doctor as beneficiary, and one for £2OO r with Earle and his sister, Dr. Catherine ; Wynekoop, as beneficiaries, were taken [ out a few weeks ago. Dr. Alice Wynekoop, whose family i numbers five doctors, and is herself a well-known physician, after extensive 1 questioning, denied all knowledge of the: • crime, and Earle, who was taken into j s custody following his return from Kansas City, where he was en route with a j , friend to the Grand Canyon, likewise j denied the implication. The mansion of 16 rooms where the family resided had a considerable repn- j tation in the fashionable neighborhood. ■ Neighbors recalled that four other deaths had occurred in the house in the past, four years, including Dr. Frank Wyne- j koop, the father-in-law of the slain girl, 1 and a woman patient whom Dr. Alice Wynekoop was treating for cancer. 111. the latter connection, there was a suit, over a £4OO bank account which both J i women had jointly. i The claim that Rheta- was killed by a, i robber is scouted by the police, who allege that tho slaying probably occurred; while tho victim was anaesthetised.
