SEVERE LATE FROST
DAMAGE IN CANTERBURY (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A late frost of varying severity was recorded throughout North Canterbury this morning. Five degrees in Christchurch caused minor damage to potatoes and tomatoes in exposed placet.’, but eight degrees in the Vicinity of Kaiapoi and Kangiora blackened hundreds of acres of potatoes, beans, and tomatoes, causing extensive loss. Fruit seems to have escaped.
