DAIRY CONTROL
OPPOSITION TO BOARD FREE MARKETING URGED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A meeting composed of representatives of dairy companies in both islands, desirous ol forming a Free Marketing Association to act independently of the Dairy Board, was held to-day. Speakers criticised the action of the Dairy Board in framing regulations which, they claimed, would have the effect of price fixing, without acquainting a large percentage of the companies concerned with the nature of the regulations.
It was stated that any attempt to stop selling and control of dairy prices would have an adverse effect on the industry. The meeting endorsed an Auckland resolution condemning interference with the absolute freedom of the disposal of dairy produce as being opposed to the best interests of the industry, and pledging itself to retain unrestricted freedom of action.
The meeting conveyed strong disapproval to the board of any interference, and pledged itself to give full support to Auckland. A further resolution was carried that before any attempt was made by the Control Board to bring the proposals into force, the board should be asked to circulate details and an explanation of tho proposals to all dairy companies in the Dominion.
