“SPAIN’S DOLLFUSS"
VICTOR AT ELECTIONS YOUNG LAW PROFESSOR (Elec. Tol. Copyright—United Press Assu.) LONDON, November 22. The Dally Express Madrid correspondent- says: “The real victor in Sunday’s elections was Scnor Gil Robles, a young lawyer, aged 34 years, already regarded as Spain’s Dollfuss. lie was a professor of law at Salamanca University at the time of tlie revolution of 1931, and then was elected to the Constituent Assembly, where his stentorian voice and debating attracted attention. He engineered the Rightists’ triumph with masterly skill, raising an election fund of £350,000, and organising propaganda on American lines. It is reputed that he aims at suppressing the Socialist Party, seizing the whole democratic machine, and establishing a dictatorial state. He is hated by the Fascists.
The Socialists, Republicans, and Radicals arc coalescing to oppose the Right Wingers in the second ballots.
