The gold reserves of Canada arc sufficient materially to increase tho Dominion note circulation without violating the principle of a 25 per cent, gold supported currency adopted by tho World Conference, the Prime Minister, Mr. R. B. Bennett, explained in a speech on Monday night, intimating that such a method might bo used to meet the needs of tho Dominion, but in such a manner as not to injure credit at homo or abroad.

He gave a definite assurance that legislation for a central bank would be submitted next session, and intimated that the Government was seriously considering an extensive public works programme, undertaking it possibly next spring.
