At tlie request of the Unemployment Board, the Public Works Department has now taken over the entire responsibility for the employment, payment, and supervision of the 750 relief workers engaged on the construction of the Summit road at Mount Pleasant, Christchurch.
While playing in the grounds of tho Tcmuka District High School two weeks ago, George Benbow, a Sixth Standard pupil, fell on loose gravel and injured his knee. At tho time tho injury was not, considered serious, hut tetanus (lockjaw) developed and the lad was in a soflous condition when admitted to tho Timaru Hospital.
