THE SESSION’S WORK
YESTERDAY'S EUSINESS DEBATE ON THE ADDRESS (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The first readings of nine Government bills in the House yesterday gave members an indication that there is work ahead, though these measures are not leading features of the Government s programme. The Address-in-Reply debate was continued by the Leader of the Opposition, whose no-confidence amendment was a long indictment in familiar terms of the Government’s policy, the amendment being supported in a lengthy speech suggesting that there was no ray of hope for the country from the. efforts of the present M inistry An answer came from the Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Internal Affairs, who was subsequently supported by Air. A D. McLeod (Coal., Wairarapa), who reminded the House of the hopeless position of the farming community until relieved, as he contended, by the high exchange rate. Labor members carried on the discussion till after 10 o’clock, when the House, adjourned, with the prospect ol Thursday evening bearing the woman member for Lyttelton, Mrs. K. R. AlcComb'S.
