DEPARTURE FOR HOME
AUSTRALIAN WARSHIPS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Beautiful conditions prevailed in Wellington yesterday for the departure of the Australian cruisers, ILM.A.S. Canberra and Australia. The Diomede which, in company with the Dunedin, will carry out combined exercises with the Canberra, and Australia in Cook Strait, left Wellington at 1.42 p.m. The Dunedin left Wellington on Saturday morning for Pie-ton and met the Diomede in CookStrait. Practice firing is being undertaken by the Australian cruisers at 5.50 a.m., and they will engage with the Dunedin and Diomede in strategical exercises. The exercises will probably conclude nr midday to-day, and the Australian shi'ps will then leave on their return trip to Australia.
