‘CONTEMPTIBLE CIRCULAR’
BRITISH MANUFACTURERS (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The organisation known as the. New Zealand Producers and United Kingdom Manufacturers’ Reciprocal Trade Federation was roundly condemned at a meeting of the executive committee of tho Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. The New r Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation enclosed a circular expressing the aims and views of the organisation, and asked for an opinion on them. After the circular bad been read it was decided that a reply lie sent that ip the opinion of the Canterbury executive the circular was contemptible. The circular stated that the federation would encounter the activities of tlio New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, representing! organised secondary industries, which had been largely responsible for the increase in tariffs of recent years, and the consequent development of uneconomic secondary industries.
