LADIES “We are again greatly indebted to Mesdames Bignall, Forster and Guthrie, and to Alessrs. A. C. Woodfield, Al. Guthrie, and A. Bignall for their efforts in providing afternoon tea for players throughout the season. Through their efforts the afternoon tea reserve fund benefited to the extent of £SO Bs, and we are sure that their work is appreciated not ’only by the association hut also by every cricketer and enthusiast in the district. Towards the end of the season the opportunity was taken by the association to hand to Airs. Bignall and Airs. Forster and to Air. and Mrs. Guthrie small tokens of gratitude for the support they have so willingly rendered to the game at all times. END OF SEASON FUNCTION “Instead of following the usual custom of presenting the trophies at the annual meeting, a dinner was held at tho Freesia Lounge at the end of the season. The function proved a great success, being attended by some 60 playv..s, officials and supporters, the trophies being presented by Air. H. E. Maude to the captains of the winning teams. VALEDICTORY

“It is with regret that we record the departure from the district of the following valued cricket supporters, tho Rev. W. J. Elliott and Alessrs. J. C. Dow and G. Price. The Rev. Air. Elliott was largely responsible for the formation of the Umpires’ Association, and the growth of that body was due greatly to his enthusiasm for the game. His presence on the field each Saturday will be greatly missed by all cricketers, and the association takes this opportunity of wishing both Airs. Elliott and himself all happiness and success in the future.

“Mr. J. C. Dow not only won success on the playing fields and performed very creditably in representative matches, but also was closely identified with the management of the game. As well as being a member of the management committee for several years, Air. Dow several times filled the position of actingsecretary very capably. We are sure that all cricketers will join in wishing him every success in his new sphere. “Mr. George Price was a prominent member of the Umpires’-Association, and filled the position of chairman of that body on the departure of Mr. Elliott from the district. Tie also represented the Umpires’ Association on the management committee, and was an ardent supporter of the game. We trust that he will continue to give the game his valuable support at Thames.

“The thanks of the association are due to the press for their full and comprehensive reports of matches during the season; to the W. R. Miller trustees for their financial assistance; to the sole selector, Mr. M. Guthrie, for bis work; to our delegate on the New Zealand Cricket Council, Mr. E. C. Luttroll; to Mr. R. J.
