The picturesque little church of All Saints, Howick, Auckland, will celebrate its eighty-sixth birthday on November 1 (All Saints’ Day). It was fabricated in 1847 on the bank of the PUrewa Creek, below St. John’s College, under the personal supervision of Bishop Selwyn, and was conveyed in sections to Howick by the bishop’s cutter Undine. There it was erected in time for the arrival of the first military pensioners who formed the settlement. In spite of its age the church is in sound condition. It embodies a quaint fancy, ■being a miniature representation of a much larger building, complete with transepts, chancel ancl central spire.
