FEARS OF VENGEANCE
AUSTRALIAN BLACKS PROTECTING MISSIONARIES CANBERRA, Sept. 12. Mr. Perkins, Minister of the Interior, says that though the Groote Eylandt mission people do not fear trouble with the natives, Colonel R. H. Weddell, Administrator of the Northern Territory, does, and it was by his advice that a party of police is being sent. Colonel Weddell, in his report, stated that certain natives believed the missionaries to be responsible for betraying them to the police, and they are, determined upon revenge.
