Extensive defects have been found in the portion of the Great North road between the Wliau Bridge and Titirangi road, which was constructed in concrete bv the Auckland City Council about eight years ago. A section of the ICOft. steel smoko stack at the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s powerhouse at Frankton was blown down during the heavy gale on Sunday. The top portion broke from the holding stays and crashed through the roof of the casein factory adjoining. In its fall it brought down a tangle of telephone and other overhead wires. Fortunately npne of the equipment iusida the factory was damaged.
