RANSOM BY INSTALMENTS
U.S. KIDNAPPERS’ PLAN NEW YORK, Aug. 4. New York kidnappers have adopted the instalment plan. This story was told by the police here to-day: Nathan Baskowitz, a boxing promoter professional known as Nat Bass, was kidnapped on Monday night in Brooklyn. His captors demanded £6OOO ransom. His family said they could not pay. “Then we’ll make it easier," said the kidnappers; and they released Baskowitz on condition that the relatives paid £4OO. This amount, they added, might be paid “in. regular monthly instalments" if it were “more convenient.”
