The town has hoeu crowded with visitors and the entertainment provided lor I heir amuse iiicnl scenes I to he appreciated. The gala air was maintained throiigo out. the events being real and thrilling, including a series ol spectaeular processions and children's games in the main street, a basketball tournament in front of the Post (tllice. a series of hand cou- < erf s'. and Maori entertainments in Market Place, exhibitions of .'eottish and other dancing, community singing on masse, and so on. Boxing, football, hockey, and other similar attractions and festivities were rounded oil' on Saturday night by an open-air ball in Market Place, a huge crowd keeping the fun going till midnight. Yesterday a big parts of townspeople accompanied the North Island visitors to Pie.tou and accorded them an enthusiastic send off in the ferry steamer.
