I VISIT TO GISBORNE
The Wairoa men’s representative team played the Gisborne Y.M.C.A. team this afternoon. This was in return for a visit paid by the local team a few weeks ago to Wairoa, when the game ended in a draw. These two teams played a drawn game on a former occasion. Men’s club games were played also ’ at the Childers road reserve this afternoon, the results being:— —Men, Senior— Foresters A 1, Defence 0. —Men, JuniorHigh School A 2, Y.M.C.A. 1. WAIROA v. Y.M.C.A. 1 1 Y.M.C.A. attacked first, and Duley, t sen., in goal saved smartly with a clean kick. Tne visiting fullbacks, Thomson and Duley, jun., were sound and kept [ Y.M.C.A. out, but they were content to adopt defensive tactics, and their fre- * quent hits to the lino did not help I Wairoa to gain ground. The halves, ' however, cleared, and Jenkin had a ’ Bhot, which glanced off a defending 5 boot. C. Pere, a Gisborne player who j was loaned to Wairoa for the day, put j in a stinging shot, which Coker saved l splendidly. There Was no score 20 6 1 minutes after the start.
