8000 AUXILIARIES ENROLMENT PERMISSIBLE (Received Aug. 30, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 29. Under the Versailles Treaty it is per-, niiasible for Austria to enrol 8000 police temporarily for one year. The British repudiate the German allegations that the enrolment constitutes conscription.
Austrian Socialists condemn the re ernitment of auxiliaries, and are sum moiling protest, meetings.
The Daily Mail states that Austrian garrisons are being strengthened throughout the Tyrolean frontier, and sharpshooters posted at various points. Auxiliary police are being enrolled in Vienna.
