NAPIER BREAKWATER
Advice has been received by the chairman of the Napier Harbor Board, Mr. T. M. Geddis, from the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates that it is,the intention of the Government to approve of the recommendation of the Local Government Loans Board, to grant the necessary power, under the Hawke’s Bay Earthquake Act, to enable the board to utilise £71,000 unexpended loan moneyfor the purpose of erecting at the breakwater wharfage accommodation, for di’edging, and for improving the protection. Included in the board’s application is the sum of £II,OOO for keeping the inner harbor open until such time as the more permanent facilities at the breakwater are ready for use.
