MR. COATES PRAISED / (Per Press Association.) OAMARU, this day. Mr. C. J. Talbot, a member of tho Main Highways Board, addressing the Motor Association last evenihg, praised the work of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates in devising the main highways scheme. Mr. Talbot said it was one of the finest enactments of the Coates’ Government, and also contended that though the board might appear to lib working adversely to the railways, yet it had to carry out the policy of the motorists, who paid for the roads. In his opinion it was not the buses that were killing the railways, but private cars.
