HUGE TOWER WRECKED
CHECK TO SALVAGE WORK THE LUTINE’S GOLD (Elec. TeJ, Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Aug. 29, 10 ,a.m.) AMSTERDAM, Aug. 28. A mysterious explosion wrecked a huge tower erected at Tei’chelling for the salvage of £2,000,000 worth of gold and silver from the wrecked ship Lutine, sunk in 1799. It is believed that the outrage was committed by persons wishing to salve the cargo themselves, as the directors of the salvage company had received letters warning them not to carry on the work. Mynheer Beckers, engineer and designer of the tower, says.that he will, construct another tower to salve the gold, even at the cost of his life.
