GOLD FOR ENGLAND
DAY’S RECORD PURCHASES LONDON, April 19. The Bank of England bought £4,41)8,000 worth of gold from Australia, India and South Attica yesterday, the largest purchase ever made in a single day. The aggregate purchases since January 1 amount to £04,170,000.
