BLAZE IN STORE
BRIGADE PREVENTS SPREAD (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A fire in the storeroom of Hart ’s fancy goods store in Cuba street- last bight destroyed the greater part of the contents of one, room and damaged the contents in the shop below. The fire-fighters fought against dense smoke for a time, lack of ventilation preventing the flames from broaking out. Efforts to stop the fire reaching the next, floor above proved successful. On this floor was stored a large quantity of Paramount films. A man employed cutting films, and a woman cleaner and child made a hurried exit- from the upper storey along the balcony to a cabaret next door.
