AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRY

TOO MUCH PROTECTION The rapid development of secondary industries, both in Sydney and Alelbourne, but especially in Alelbourne, much impressed Air. D. A. Ewen, ot Wellington, who returned by the Alono wai after spending three weeks in Australia.

Air. Ewen is managing-director of Sargood, Son, and Ewen. “In mv oninion these industries have gone ahead far too fast for tlie country,” said Air. Ewen, who was visiting Australia after 12 years’ absence. He said the teeming population of the cities seemed to he far too great a burden for the country areas to carry.
