MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE?
RELIEF WORKS FATALITY (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The police arc making further investigations to-day concerning tho death of George John Christopher Bank, 61, a relief worker, following injuries received on the Summit road yesterday. It is now stated that an altercation occurred previously, and that a 'charge of manslaughter may follow. One relief worker stated this morning that Bank had been concerned in a dispute. “1 was working alongside Bank and an altercation arose between Bank and another man/' he said. “Bank was twice struck on the body. He stumbled and fell about 4ft. over a bank on to his back. He rose to his feet and then fell forward, striking bis chin on a stone, lie was unconscious when picked up.”
