COMMUNISM OPPOSED
LOYAL ORANGE LODGE STAND FOR CHRISTIANITY (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The Grand Lodge of the Loyal Orange institution carried a. resolution, declaring that members were bound to defend the Christian religion. The resolution proceeded: “This Grand Lodge of New Zealand, believing that Communism .is based on Atheism and is opposed to all religion and that its declared purpose is to destroy religion, declares that it is the duty ot members to oppose Communism and that membership of any Communistic organisation is incompatible with the principles of the Orange institution.” The lodge also carried a resolution associating itself with the protests of Protestant churches against Sunday excursion trains and also “against such Sabbath desecration as flights- carried out in New Zealand on the Lord’s Day bv Sir Charles Kingston!
