WHATAUPOKO STOCK ROUTE

(To tlio Editor of the Herald.) iSir, —Referring to a recent letter by Mr. F. R. Ball, I would like to point out as an Ormond road resident and a worthy Gisborne citizen as well (perhaps), that all the disadvantages obtaining with travelling stock in his street prevail just the same elsewhere and perhaps more so with heavy vehicular traffic added. With regard to travelling stock on bitumen most stock owners would no doubt prefer under such conditions to transport their stock in motor lorries, otherwise why are alternative stock routes off main highways provided wherever possible Roads versus streets hardly establishes anything in this matter as Gisborne’s main thoroughfare is called a, road. Finally I would like to point out to my friend Mr. Ball that the borough affairs are no doubt in just as capable hands as the Power Board’s are, so our letter,s are not likely to unduly influence their opinion one way or the other. —Yours, etc., R, W. r\ EDWARDS.
