EASTER MONDAY SHOOT Sill—lD TEAM CHALLENGED The Gisborne Defence Rifle Club held a shoot yesterday on the Mungapapa range, when some good scoring was registered. At the opening range of 300yds, S. Holmes, E. Bull and W. Sherrill' each returned scores of 37 out of a possible 40, and were placed in the order named on the Bisley count-back. At 503yds, R. 0. Miles and J. Berry, two keen voting members of the club, tilled lirsl and second places, Miles making the possible of 40 points, and Berry scoring one point less. The £>OOyds. match fell to the veteran, F. I*. Jeune, whose total was 37, while F. J. Jeune, scoring 38, had to concede a penalty of three points and hence was placed second, The last-mentioned rifleman made the best aggregate of the (lay, his scores being 36 at 300yds, 37 at oOOyds, and 38 at 600yds, aggregating 111 out of a possible 120. An interesting teams match took placo between the quintet which won the Collins Shield at Hastings. on Easter Saturday and a team comprising four of the best marksmen in the club apart from the shield winners. The shield team held its own throughout the match, and won by a margin of 10 points on the aggregate scores. Detailed results of the day s shooting were as under 7Coyds. Sweepstakes.—S.
