DAIRY INDUSTRY

REORGANISATION IN PROGRESS (Special to tlio Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The representative committee associated with the dairying industry which was set up following a conference called by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. C. K. Macmillan, held a, long meeting in Wellington this week, the proceedings lasting all day until 6.30 p.m., with the Minister presiding during a large portion of the time. There are representatives of the Department of Agriculture Research Department. Dairy Board, dairy lactones, and commercial interests on the committee, which was set. up to carry out a number of important recommendations from the conference, approved by the Minister, under which there will be more regulation of the industry with a view to securing improved milk supply, while problems associated with the manufacture of cheese are to be investi-

gated. At the lasi, meeting, detailed proposals for carrying out these plans were discussed and submitted to the Munster, and it is felt that the difficulties in the. industry a,re now being firmly faced, and that an earnest attempt is being made to aeliiewo successful results in the improvement of cheese quality.
