MISS HAMPTON’S PUPILS

OPERA HOUSE SUCCESS

The pupils of Miss Anno Hampton, assisted by a number o! prominent entertainers, presented a particularly interesting recital last evening at the Opera House, in aid of tho Holy I.rinit.v Church restoration fund. I lie attendance was fair, and the audience proved most appreciative, every item being awarded its meed oi applause, and many recalls being insisted upon. At an appropriate interval in the programme, the vicar of Holy trinity, Gaiion A. F. Hall, expressed the thanks of the church to Miss Hampton and her pupils, to the entertainers who had willingly given their assistance in submitting the programme, to members of the Holy Trinity .Men’s Club, to Mr. G. Moore’s orchestra, and to the members of the theatre stall', who gave their services gratis. Canon. Hall was himself a contributor to the programme, singing ‘‘Gentle Maiden.” an old Irish folk song, and “Undo Home,” a negro ballad of whimsical 'character.

The accompaniments to the musical and dancing items were capably rendered by Mesdames E. Hampton and W. Esquilant, and Mr. L. Mawsou, and the Locking and appointments of the pro duet-ion were worthy of the keen appreciation voiced by members of tho audience. Items were given as under :

Violin solos: “E'strelila,” ami “A Londonderry Air.” Master Tom Lyle. Fancy dances: Miss Barbara Scott. Dialogue: “Hello, Twicj,” Misses Lorna McKee and Mavis Bannister.
