WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
WIIARERATA MEETING Mrs. N. West presided over an attendance of 14 enthusiastic members at the last meeting of the Wharerata, Women's Institute. The lesjionse to the roll-call took tho form of a humorous anecdote, nearly all present taking part. The delegate’s report of the proceedings of tlie recent council meeting was presented. An interesting demonstration of knitting was given by Mrs. Glass, who also showed some cushions prettily worked with wool.
Arrangements regarding the Christmas tree entertainment for the benefit of tho children of the district were further advanced. Members have spared neither time nor effort in the making of suitable toys to delight tho hearts of the young folk, and some of the work exhibited showed considerable ingenuity and originality.
The prize for the host toy was awarded to Mrs. Buslinell for her penguin, with second honors to Mrs. Tutenberg for a. realistic rabbit.
Mesdarnos G. • Tome, Fleming and Berthelsen, a.s hostesses for the afternoon, provided much appreciated refreshments, the proceedings being terminated by the singing of the National Anthem.
