“The fact that accused drove away after knocking down two people, and the manner in which lie drove, indicates, that lie. was either trying! to run away or else was ,iu such a, state as ,not to know what he had done,” said Air. W. lb McKean, S.M., in the Auckland Police Court, when Thomas Majurey, 33, steam-shovel driver, admitted -a. charge of being iiitoxieat-ed .while in charge of a motor-car. “It would appear -lie. came: back only because he was chased,” the magistrate .said, in imposing a fine of £25, in default- two months’ imprisonment. His license was cancelled for a year.
