SUICIDE OF WITNESS
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST WORRIED OVER PUBLICITY (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, last night, An inquest was held to-day into the c(eafh of Albert Joseph Donovan, 41, a 'sjflgle m*ui, who was found dead on Noverber 8 shortly after the death of Hector Aitken. The police stated that between the timq of Aitkeu’s disappearance and his own death, Donovan appeared to be very worried o.ver his association with a girl; The disclosures, it was stated, had fipset him, and the prospect of publicity pad led him to take his life. The coroner returned a verdict that Donovan’s death was due to» poisoning self-administered while in a state ot mental agitation.
Donovan was found dead in au outhouse at'his home in Malawi. He was a. witness at. an inquest m the atternocin into the circumstances ot the death Of Aitken, \vho was found drowned in the Wailiopai Raver oil October 21. J U! coroner commented on the uiisutisldcloij nature of some of the evidence given and returned a verdict that Aitken was found drowned in the Waihopai, there being no evidence to show how the decease* came to he in the river.
