SALE OF WORK
SUCCESSFUL EFFORT HOLY TRINITY LADIES’ GUILD ’ Tho annual sale of work held in the City Hall on Saturday by the Holy Trinity Anglican Ladies’ Guild was very well attended and most successful. The hall was decorated with bamboo anil flags, and the stalls were ranged around tho walls and looked very attractive with tlici.r colored streamers and tempting wares. The large space in the centre of the hall was utilised for tearooms, a crystal vase of Iceland poppies prettily arranged with larkspur and feathery greenery decorating each small table, while large bowls of pink rambler roses and larkspur stood on a large stand in the centre of the enclosure. The stallholders were : Small goods, Mesdames L. Cotterill, W. G. Sherratt, F. 13. Barker, W. R. B. Willock, J. O. N. Thomas, J. W. Nolan, and J. \V Williams; tea-rooms, Mesdames A. F. I-lall, W. E. Goffe, C. E. Robinson, L. Balfour, Brackstope, T. Ellery, and Walsorth, assisted by Misses E. Winter, Baker (2). B. Jenkins and J. Grcig; work stall, Mesdames C. C. Doweling, A. S. Seymour, Muis, and P. G. T. Peaeocke, Misses A. and E. BrookeTaylor ; books, Mesdames Anderson, .1. G. S. Thomson and G. Carter; cakes, Mesdames R. U. Burke, G. W. Willock. L. T. Barnard, E. Ewart Brown, R. L Maclean, N. Hooper and L. Grey Barton : produce and flowers, Mesdames K. Reed and I). McKeague: sweets, Miss E. Davies, assisted by Bible Class girls, including Misses llopps, ilazell, Bennett (2), Tresadern and Johnson (2) : soft drinks and ice creams, .Mrs. H. G. Wellbourne, assisted by Mrs. 11. Bennett; jumble stall, Mrs. Wise; toys, Messrs. W. Goodyear and W. Parsons. A nail-driving competition supervised by Mr. A. D. Y. Canning, assisted by Mr. B. Wade, was well patronised, Mrs. Wise being the successful competitor. A candle lighting contest conducted by Mr. W. Oakden also proved very popular. The function was formally opened by Canon A. F. Ilall, with a short prayer, at. 10 a.m.., after which the stall-holders were kept well occupied attending to their many customers. The generosity of the parishioners and the hard work of all the helpers and contributors were well rewarded by the highly satisfactory financial result of the sale of work.
