Mr. H. G. Johnston, win? has been headmaster at .the Mofueka District High School during the last- hvo years has received confirmation of his appointment as headmaster of the Napier Intermediate School. Numbers of .liisborne children have beep gilder the hnpi'ession recently that they ar.eljfclo to make a profitable hobby by catdHrg white butterflies in the belief that a, market exists for them. Many young people have called at the ofhco of tire Agricultural Department with specimens to sell, and they have also invaded the Herald office for that purpose, with disappointing results. It is 1 relieved that the children secured this notion from the fact that a competition was instituted in Hawke’s Bay recently, and that a prize was awarded for the boy dr girl catching the greatest number of il? 0 butterflies. Even if the children of Gisborne have received uo direct' reward, it is possible that thy numbers of white butterflies have been greatjy reduced recently as a result 0/ their endeavors.
