EARLY MORNING RAID
ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE 14 MEN CHARGED Early yesterday morning the police raided a house in Grey street, and as a result, 14 men were charged before Air. P. H. Harper, S.M., in the Police Court this morning with breaches of the Gaming Act. Two of the men were charged with keeping a common gaming house, and the remaining 12 were charged with being found in a common gaming house. Upon Air. S. V. Beaufoy entering pleas of not guilty in respect of all charged, Senior-Sergeant Wade applied for a remand until Friday, to enable the case for the prosecution to be prepared. The magistrate granted the application, and allowed bail. Mr. Beaufoy applied for the suppression of the names of all the accused in the meantime, explaining that if their names were published now several of the men might lose their, employment. Mr. Harper agreed to suppress the names in the meantime.
