220-YEAR SENTENCE
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2. Sentence from IS to 220 years was pronounced on C. Jack Gaines, a Glendale promoter, convicted of forgery and grand tlveft in a £22,000 loss suffered by Mrs. Lola Harmon, of Burbank, widow of a chain-frtoro executive. Testimony indicated that Gaines persuaded Mrs. Harmon to turn over money and stocks to him on the promise that they would lie used to purchase property which would return large profits. It wak claimed that Gaines bought no property whatever,
