Patchy Fruit Crops
PISBOKNE is not alone in having a poor apple crop this sea..on; conditions appear to be mneli the same in Hawke’s Bay. .In both districts some of the trees -have practically no crop at all, and the conditions here have been accentuated by the fact that the fall of immature apples has been heavier than usual. The Napier Telegraph quotes me Hawke’s Bay orchard instructor, Mr. N. ,). Adamson, as saying that the Hawke’s Bay apple crop is the most irregular for many seasons, some oi chardists having everything from com plete failure to heavy yield amongst trees of the same variety.
j 11 will necessarily follow, says Mr Adamson, that on u number of trees, there will be a considerable amount of oversize fruit, and that is where the i main difficulty will lie in estimating j the total yield.
