In committee, Senator McLachlan had n.u amendment inserted 'providing a maximum penalty of £SOO or two years’ gaol for a, person publishing any seditious matter, and also a maximum penalty of £ICOO, or life imprisonment, for a person knowingly inciting members of the King’s forces to mutiny.
