CROSSING DISASTER
LOCOMOTIVE AND LORRY POUR KILLED, TWO INJURED SYDNEY, Dec. 2. Four people were killed and two others injured seriously to-day in one of the worst level crossing accidents in the history of the State. A locomotive drawing a van collided with a milk lorry at Cuhvalla, near Bowrnl, on the southern branch line.. Six persons aboard the lorry, being driven to Boaral for Christinas shopping, were hurled in all directions. Those killed were: Harry Mackie, 60; Harry Wilson, 70; Etva Mortimer, 17; and Gladys Tolhurst, 15; all residents of Burrawang. The injured' are: Arthur Hollins, 29, unmarried ; and Joyce Gilbert, fractured skull and serious internal injuries. Hollins, .who was the driver of the lorry, has a broken collarbone. He stated that he did not see the locomotive as his vision was obscured by the siding. The train e-row were so overcome by the disaster Hint they were unable to take the locomotive away, and -a new crew was obtained.
